Terms and conditions

By using App4Scrap you agree to these terms. If you are using the service on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to accept them on its behalf.

1. The service

App4Scrap is an online directory of scrap metal yards. It lets visitors find yards, view prices and opening information, save favourites, set price alerts and leave reviews, and lets registered merchants manage their own listing. Merchants may also subscribe to a paid Yard listing or Waste Tracking plan. The service is provided “as is” and “as available”.

2. Accounts

• You must provide accurate information when registering and keep your login details secure. You may register with email and password or Google Sign-In.
• You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us immediately if your account is compromised.
• One of the user or merchant roles applies at registration; an account may not abuse the service, duplicate listings, or operate under false identities.
• Merchants must be genuinely involved with the yard they list.

3. Merchant listings

• Merchants are solely responsible for the accuracy of their business name, description, photos, opening hours, prices and any other content they publish.
• Listings must comply with the law (including consumer and waste legislation) and must not mislead or impersonate others.
• A listing appears on Find only when the profile is complete and a listing entitlement is in force (a paid plan, complimentary access, or a grandfathered grant).
• We may hide or remove a listing that is incomplete, offensive, unlawful, or that breaches these terms.

4. Paid plans and PayPal

• Yard and Waste Tracking subscriptions are billed by PayPal according to the plan you choose.
• A Waste Tracking plan includes listing access. Cancelling a plan ends the related entitlement at the end of the paid period or when PayPal tells us the subscription is cancelled, whichever applies.
• Chargebacks, unpaid invoices or a cancelled subscription may hide your listing and waste tools.

5. Waste Tracking

• Waste Tracking is an optional filing aid. You remain responsible for the accuracy of every receipt and for your legal duties as a waste receiver under UK law.
• We submit the details you enter to DEFRA’s waste-tracking service and keep a copy in your account. DEFRA’s record is authoritative for the movement.
• App4Scrap is not a substitute for your environmental permit, duty of care paperwork, or professional advice.

6. Reviews and other user content

• You may post reviews only about yards you genuinely dealt with, and must not post false, defamatory, threatening or harassing content.
• You keep the rights to your content but grant us a non-exclusive licence to display it on the service, moderated and anonymised as appropriate.
• We may edit or remove content that breaches these terms.

7. Prices, distances and availability

Prices shown are set by merchants and change frequently; market reference figures come from third parties. Distances and opening hours are approximate and may be out of date. We do not guarantee that a yard will accept your material, honour a displayed rate, or be open when you arrive. Always check before travelling.

8. Acceptable use

You must not: attempt to damage, overload or hack the service; scrape it at scale; collect other users’ data; send spam through it; or use it for any unlawful purpose.

9. Our liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, App4Scrap is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from reliance on listing content, prices, distances, waste filings or up-time. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (for example, for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence).

10. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close accounts, or remove content, that breaches these terms or endangers the service or other users. You may close your account and delete your data at any time from account settings. Deletion removes your App4Scrap login and our copies of your data. DEFRA and PayPal keep their own records. An active PayPal subscription should be cancelled as part of deletion; if that fails, cancel it in PayPal.

11. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be flagged on this page with an updated date; continued use after changes take effect means you accept them.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
